Acer CloudMobile set to finally launch in September

Written By Info Zone on Monday, August 13, 2012 | 4:14 PM

The Acer CloudMobile was unveiled months ago in February, and you might have already forgotten about its existence, but Acer’s cloud phone is now finally gearing up for launch in September. Etailer Expansys is now accepting pre-orders for the device in the United Kingdom and other European markets for a price of £284.99 (around $450).

In case, you’ve forgotten, here’s a quick rundown of the specifications of the Acer CloudMobile:

- a 4.3-inch 720p screen,
- 1.5GHz dual-core processor,
- 1GB of RAM,
- 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash,
- HSPA and Wi-Fi,
- DLNA, GPS, Dolby Sound technology
- microSD expansion slot.

The Acer CloudMobile runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich at launch and Acer hasn’t yet clarified whether or not it’d get updated to Jelly Bean.

Apple's internal research revealed: why customers chose Android over the iPhone

A couple of years ago Apple was facing a dilemma. It had committed to an exclusive deal with AT&T for five years, but had just watched Android surge past the iPhone in terms of market share. On the one hand, surely being on just one carrier was holding them back, but on the other hand AT&T was paying through the nose for each exclusive iPhone they sold, which helped Apple to achieve more profitability than anyone else in the mobile phone market. To evaluate the impact of carrier exclusivity Apple commissioned a poll of Android owners to see why those chose the phone over an iPhone.

Thanks to the Apple v. Samsung trial we know get to know what Apple’s internal study discovered. At the time 25% of Android phone owners had considered buying an iPhone before settling on an Android handset. Of that 25% that did consider getting an iPhone, the number one reason for going with an Android was not wanting to switch carriers (43%). Next up was trusting Google as a brand (36%) and 30% wanted a larger screen size than an iPhone offered.
Note that respondents could check more than one answer; so a consumer may have preferred the screen size, turn-by-turn GPS, and not having to change carriers. Indeed, Apple now offering devices on most carriers has not lead to a collapse in Android’s market share (although new iPhone launches now lead to a temporary annual recalibration of market share between the two platforms), but the carrier exclusivity issue was the one that Apple could most easily fix, and their market share has indeed grown since then in the United States.
The entire list reads as follows:

  • 43% Wanted to stay with current provider
  • 36% Trusted Google brand
  • 30% Preferred larger screen
  • 27% Preferred Android Market
  • 26% Wanted better Google services intergration
  • 25% Wanted latest and greatest smartphone
  • 25% Wanted turn-by-turn GPS
  • 25% Wanted latest and greatest technology

iPhone pre-orders may start September 12th

More leaks are pointing to the same time-frame for the iPhone 5 launch. We've seen leaks before that said mid-September would have the announcement, and now iMore is saying that pre-orders for Apple's next smartphone will start at the same time, which seems like a logical step that anyone could have made by now. According to the report, September 12th will see the announcement and beginning of pre-orders for the iPhone 5, and the device will start its rollout release just 9 days later. The info says that on September 21st at least the US will see the release, if not more major markets, and the other international releases will begin the first week of October, possibly on October 5th.Of course, we haven't heard anything official from Apple, but all that info seems pretty reasonable, and looks like the window that Apple aimed for with the last iPhone release. The real question is what other devices will be announced, or if it will be an iPhone only affair.

Dalin detaje të reja mbi iPhone 5

Written By Info Zone on Sunday, August 12, 2012 | 3:21 PM

Faqja shkruan gjithashtu se lidhja e kabllit prej 30-pin, tashmë do të jetë 9-pin.

1. Nokia 7700

Samsung Galaxy S2

Written By Info Zone on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 | 4:38 PM

t's rare that a direct sequel to something awesome – be it film, game or hardware – is anything other than a disappointment when it comes to a new phone.
Rarer still is when the second instalment surpasses the original. We can think of just a scant handful of cases off the top of our heads: The Empire Strikes Back, Terminator 2 and Left 4 Dead 2.
Well, add the Galaxy S2 to that list, because this phone is awesome.
Thin, light and with an amazingly clear 4.3-inch Super AMOLED plus screen behind its toughened Gorilla Glass front panel, this is one handset you won't be pocketing in shame when your mates pass by.
In fact, we suspect you'll be evangelising about it to anyone who'll listen. That's because the dual-core processor within its tiny shell isn't just a marketing bullet point, but rather powers an experience that we're nothing short of effervescent about. For instance, web browsing is blisteringly fast and the Galaxy S2's Flash support is second to none.
We're thrilled to say that the plus points are just too numerous to do justice of here. Check out the full review to find out why this is one of the best smartphones we're likely to see in 2011.

Phone Options

Because Android is a platform rather than a particular phone, it offers more phone models than any other smartphone brand. Most third-party phone manufacturers have their own Android line, from Verizon-supported Motorola Droid X to the LG Optimus. Android phones may be touchscreen-only, or they may have a keyboard attached. Google's official phone is the Nexus One, with a 3.7" display and a thickness of 11.5 mm.

The Android Operating System

Android's operating system (OS) is based on Linux, an open-source OS, but has been extensively changed and developed by Google. It supports SMS and MMS text-messaging, as well as many wireless connectivity standards including Wi-Fi, WiMAX, and Bluetooth. The most common versions of Android are 2.1 and 2.2. Like the operating system on a computer, it provides a framework on which users can install individual programs, or "apps."

Android Applications

Applications for Android are sold through "Market", Google's software store that comes pre-installed on most Android phones. Over 250,000 apps are already available for the Android, with more on the way. Useful apps range from customized skins and themes to media players to interfaces for Twitter and Google Voice. As for games, many popular hits such as "Fruit Ninja" and "Bejeweled 2" are available through the Market.
